# Quantum Community Gears Up for unitaryHACK26
The open-source quantum software community is preparing for its largest collaborative sprint yet. unitaryHACK26, running June 3–17, invites developers worldwide to contribute to quantum computing projects while earning monetary rewards—a model that’s proven remarkably successful. Last year’s event drew over 1,000 participants who collectively claimed 172 bounties worth $19,000.
Unlike weekend hackathons, this two-week format allows contributors meaningful time to collaborate with project maintainers on real-world challenges. Participants can simultaneously build portfolios and strengthen the quantum ecosystem’s foundational tools.
A notable addition this year: organizers introduced a formal AI policy governing large language model usage, reflecting growing discussion around artificial intelligence in open-source development. Whether you’re a seasoned quantum engineer or taking your first coding steps, unitaryHACK welcomes all skill levels.
