# C12 Advances Carbon Nanotube Quantum Manufacturing with Precision Assembly Process

Paris-based quantum firm C12 has unveiled its proprietary Pick & Place nanoassembly technology, a breakthrough method for placing individual carbon nanotubes onto silicon chips with extraordinary accuracy. The process—comparable to positioning a hair within a few city blocks on a Paris-sized surface—separates nanotube growth from chip fabrication, enabling manufacturers to test and validate components before assembly.

The innovation directly tackles qubit variability, a persistent challenge in quantum hardware production. By preselecting carbon nanotubes through electrical screening before integration, C12 achieves tighter quality control than competitors. The efficiency gains are striking: the streamlined process assembled 50 devices in four weeks, whereas the previous method required an entire year for the same output.

The approach also supports denser chip designs, exemplified by C12’s High-Density chip featuring 17 quantum devices on a single substrate. Two fully operational nanoassembly setups now run in C12’s Paris laboratory.
