# Firgun Ventures Backs Silicon Quantum Computing in First Australian Investment
London-based venture firm Firgun Ventures has invested in Silicon Quantum Computing (SQC), marking its inaugural Australian deal and reinforcing investor confidence in silicon-based quantum approaches. SQC manufactures quantum chips with atomic-scale precision—measuring just 0.13 nanometers—and operates as a fully integrated company capable of designing, producing, and testing new chips within a week.
Founded in 2017 by quantum pioneer Michelle Simmons, SQC already counts the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation, UNSW, and Telstra as backers. The company has deployed commercial quantum products to enterprise and government customers and recently advanced to Stage B of DARPA’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative alongside ten other firms.
Firgun’s move expands its quantum portfolio, which includes companies across photonics and quantum computing modalities.
