# Atom Computing Demonstrates Quantum Error Correction Breakthrough

Atom Computing has achieved a significant milestone: the first complete demonstration of quantum error correction using a toric code on a neutral-atom quantum computer. The breakthrough shows that errors decrease as more qubits—the basic units of quantum information—are added to the system, and the company sustained error correction across multiple operational rounds.

This accomplishment makes Atom Computing only the second company globally to demonstrate sustained quantum error correction over many cycles, and the first to do so using neutral atoms (individual atoms manipulated with lasers, rather than superconducting circuits). The result validates the company’s approach and accelerates progress toward fault-tolerant quantum computers—systems reliable enough for practical applications.

The achievement builds on Atom Computing’s commercial momentum, including deployment of its Magne system with Nordic partners QuNorth and Microsoft, participation in DARPA’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative, and a recently announced $100 million funding agreement with the U.S. Department of Commerce.
