# Quantinuum and Mitsubishi Electric Partner on Quantum Computing for Industry
Quantum computing firm Quantinuum and manufacturing giant Mitsubishi Electric have inked a preliminary agreement to jointly develop quantum applications for industrial engineering and design. The non-binding memorandum of understanding sets the stage for both companies to identify practical use cases where quantum or hybrid quantum-classical computing—combining quantum processors with traditional computers—could solve real engineering challenges.
The collaboration targets computer-aided engineering, computational fluid dynamics (the physics of fluid flow), and industrial simulations. Quantinuum will contribute its trapped-ion quantum systems and algorithm expertise, while Mitsubishi Electric brings deep knowledge of electromagnetic analysis, structural engineering, and thermal systems across manufacturing, energy, and building automation sectors.
Both companies recognize that early quantum engagement could create competitive advantages as the technology matures toward commercial viability, potentially securing intellectual property and preferential access to quantum infrastructure.
